Truly horrifying. I have no words....

This flower reminds me of the flowwer from Aku no Hana this game is pretty cool i love it, it somehow scared me a litlle in the first jkumpscare and then was alright but its amazing yayayayam, ok i just read that this game is inspired by aku no hana so that's why wow

Withered was an absolutely harrowing experience plentiful scares, but the true terror lies beneath its surface.

W
What initially caught my eye was its beautifully grim aesthetics. I knew I had to pick this one up, and the title sequence itself was enough to show me that I was in for a wild ride.

It did not prepare me for how horrifying the story truly was.

Withered excels in many aspects, from the unmistakably unhinged storytelling, beautiful minimalist artwork, to its use of ambient music and sound effects to sink its withered claws in the supple, vulnerable parts of your mind.

Truly, a masterpiece.

thank you for the game :)

This is one of the scariest games i've played and the mystery reveal is magnificent! it reminds me a lot of "The flowers of evil" manga

there are a few typos and grammar mistakes though but it was still understandable

yesssss, aku no hana

A neat little creepy game.

Pretty Creepy.

Very well done game, i liked the story and visuals !!!

Thank you!

why is this so scary? it shouldn't be. but it definitely is. I got to every ending and each time was as scary as the first (I am not too squeamish). but while scary, it is also a very well crafted game with beautiful art and fitting music .

Thank you! I'm humbled that you liked it

W..wo...wooooow. This font is familiar for eyes the horror game (android)

The font is amatic SC and it is free at https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Amatic+SC?preview.text_type=custom

Thx for the game :)

This game is dark... and it gets darker fast... Perfect. I loved it.

Thank you for playing it!

very good game. made m take my headphones off but other than that it's such a really good game

super different really enjoyed it

Thanks!

Probably a bit late, but gave the game a go and really enjoyed it. Some of the text was grammatically incorrect and the jumps scares got a bit repetitive, but overall it was an interesting concept and game. The music and art especially stood out.

(Lot's of people already have, but if you're interested I've recorded an lp of the game!)

This has this balance of a thrilling story and also a somber story of a path to redemption, very well done :')

Short but a defiantly mature content game . The spinning eye effect was great!

Man that was tough. It really challenges a person. Great game.

"The sad truth is that we can't run away from the sad truth"

"We create our own demons"...

I loved how crazy it was, it showed just how devastating and frightening the truth reality can be and props to the person who did sound effects the screeches from the "eye" were terrifying.Loved 'WITHERED' keep it up.

That was freaky and disturbing and I loved it! Gonna be trying for the other endings at some point. Made a video, hope you enjoy!

THAT WAS GREAT AND DEFINITELY NO TERRIFYING! But no,  seriously it was great!

First minute and I screamed because of that jumpscare

aku no hana is my favorite manga AND anime,, but i've never met anyone else who's read/seen it. so when i saw that flower i almost had a fucking stroke. thank you sm for making this game!

Same !  i questioned myself if i was seeing correctly hahaha, I've never seen anyone else who knew of aku no hana since it didn't do so well in selling., sadly, because of the art style :(

Nice work man, novel games can be difficult to pull off in my experience but with Withered I'd say you've done it!

Of course there's reading as you'd expect but it's exciting and engaging plus SWEAR WORDS, I never once felt bored about to switch off; I was in 100%. Definitely worth a play through.

To sum up my experience in 5 words...

I did not expect that.

Absolutely loved this game, it got me a few times

Really cool game. While i'm not usually a fan of visual novels, this one was very good.

Da FINAL Episode! True Ending :O

Loved it! Besides some grammatical stuffs it was great ;3

I never thought of the comparison with Little shop of horror but now that you mention it, it does give of that kinda vibe.

This game wasn't what I was expecting honestly. But the music in the game didn't play so i had to improvise. But a great experience!

Loving the game so far, look forward to the next ending! :3

Sorry to ask-- I know that your devlog says that there's a platform patch, but I can't see the Mac patch in the folder. Do you know where it is?

Thanks for pointing it out. It seems that there are errors upon building the distribution copies, and for some reasons, the Mac build was built separately. I uploaded the Mac port so you can now download it separately. I'm deeply sorry for the troubles.

No problem! I'm super excited to play the game.

I adore this! Visual novels all have such a unique style, but this one really stands out among the crowd.

Having everything contained within one scene adds to the tension of it all (I mean, who wouldn't feel uncomfortable having to share an enclosed space with that eye-book?), and the way everything builds up bit-by-bit is ta real treat for the senses!

I've grabbed myself two of the endings so far, and I'm sure I'll be going for all of them! Keep up the awesome work, this was a real treat to play =)

awwe Thanks!Goodluck on your Playthrough! Cheers!

Well, that was definitely something. The game really had some shocking moments and narrative twists, though I think the visual shockers / jumpscares were a bit over the top and unnecessary (at least for my taste). Nonetheless, the narrative and storytelling was quite grand and the overall style of art was wonderful. How the character in his ignorance realizes step by step more of what he has actually done is so brutal and ruthlessly honest. The game took me away and left me with some kind of discomfort, which is actually one of the biggest achievements you can accomplish with. That's why I wrote an article about your jam game and uploaded a playthrough video for one of the ends. Keep up the great work!

Best wishes,
Sebastian

awwe, Thank you very much! I appreciate everybit of your review! cheers

 ฅ/ᐠ。ᆽ。ᐟ \ Hello again!

This was an amazingly dark and grim tale, and I loved every moment of it. The storytelling has improved dramatically since your previous games, and the art and presentation here is more eerily pleasant to look at.

Story wise, I was able to predict some things right off the bat, but the amount of twists and turns actually surprised me. There was just so much more beneath the surface that I was left in awe at all the grimy details. I have to say that this has become one of my most favorite visual novels of all time as I'm a sucker for gruesome mysteries, and I find the symbolic creativity of this to be inspiring.

Of course, this doesn't come without faults. As you're aware by now, grammar is a big issue, and mistakes in the introduction can potentially drive away players. Maybe you can find someone to proof read for you. Other than that, everything was fine for me.

Overall, I loved reading this and I'm looking forward to your future projects!

Awwe thanks ! And yes it is influenced by AkuNohana . I loved the playthrough as always ! Thanks for the feedback !
